Jivdaya Charitable Trust (Uttarayan Bird Rescue Initiative)

Purpose

At Distinct Steps Foundation, we are committed to supporting causes that safeguard animal welfare and promote harmony between people and nature. Through strategic partnerships, we aim to contribute to initiatives that protect vulnerable wildlife and provide timely care where it is needed most. In collaboration with our partner Wild Frontiers, we have partnered with Jivdaya Charitable Trust (JCT), a renowned animal welfare organisation in Ahmedabad that is dedicated to the rescue, treatment, rehabilitation, and protection of injured and distressed animals and birds. A key focus of this collaboration is to support JCT's life-saving efforts during Uttarayan, Gujarat's annual kite-flying festival, when thousands of birds are injured due to kite strings.

Objective

Every year during Uttarayan, Jivdaya Charitable Trust establishes dedicated rescue and treatment facilities to care for birds injured during the festival. These camps play a critical role in providing immediate medical attention, rehabilitation, and recovery support to affected birds. Through this partnership, Distinct Steps Foundation and Wild Frontiers will support JCT's Uttarayan bird rescue initiative, helping strengthen rescue operations and ensure that injured birds receive the care and treatment they need during this challenging period.

Our Support and Impact

Through our collaboration with Jivdaya Charitable Trust and Wild Frontiers, we aim to support the rescue and recovery of birds injured during the Uttarayan kite-flying festival. By helping strengthen JCT's bird rescue and treatment efforts, we hope to give many injured birds a better chance of healing and returning to their natural habitat. Beyond supporting emergency care, this initiative reflects our shared commitment to promoting compassion for wildlife and raising awareness about the importance of protecting birds during the festive season.
